The data in figure 12 depicts Botswana as one of the world largest HIV/AIDS epicentres with South Africa not far behind. In contrast, Australia’s HIV prevalence is consistently under 2 per 1000 people during these 15 years, demonstrating the nation’s overall successful management of the virus in the 21 st century. Regarding the HIV prevalence of Botswana and South Africa, although there are various decreases and increases in certain years, Botswana displays a general decrease, contrasting to South Africa’s general increase of people living with HIV. In comparison to GDP per capita, there is a correlation in which high HIV prevalence correlates to low GDP per capita and vice versa. Australia’s GDP per capita is not shown in figure 12, as its GDP per capita is very large (50,000+) in comparison to Botswana and South Africa, however this displays the correlation as its very high
