Investigation (Criteria B)

Proportion – Ratios and direct proportion (Chapter 2) Solve a range of problems involving rates and ratios, with and without digital technologies. Solve problems involving direct proportion. Explore the relationship between graphs and equations corresponding to simple rate problems. Measurement – Perimeter, area, surface area and volume (Chapter 12) Calculate the areas of composite shapes. Calculate the surface area and volume of cylinders and solve related problems. Solve problems involving the surface area of right prisms. Volume & TSA of Pyramids with any base, which may be truncated. (**Extended group only) Trigonometry – Applications include angles of elevation and bearings (Chapter 13) Use similarity to investigate the constancy of the sine, cosine and tangent ratios for a given angle in a right-angles triangle. Apply trigonometry to solve right-angled triangle problems. Measurement of Non-right triangles, including area. Sine, cosine rules & Heron’s formula. (**Extended group only)
