My Santiago

Moment Caught 20 th September 2019 12.15 – 12.20 pm (A Friday afternoon poem when everything seems possible)

It is midday, But much further in my life, Autumn - if you must have it, And I am practising mindfulness on the balcony of my workplace

The quad is below me, Part Spring sun

tinged with a gentle zephyr, And the kids are on the grass, Eating, Talking in groups, Performing - uninhabited in this their safe space Crows straddle the roof tiles, Sleek sentinels, With broken voices, The hills are blue in the distance, And the sounds of adolescents bounce back and forth between the sandstone walls I sense my body feeling good , Breathing in the intoxication of life, And know that these times Are precious - rare, The subtle mix that does not come often, So I grab my phone, Head to ‘My Notes’, And record the whimsical moment, Brief, rich, true, As life seen, Preferred, Understood and penned Nor does it last when it comes
