My Santiago

I am living my days

One awakening morning at a time, From my purposeful thoughts About the day ahead, And night before, To legs swinging off the bed,

But first, A pause, A momentary reflection of the night passed, the dreams that came and went - the day ahead, Then firm - feet on carpet, A Child’s Pose by my half-awake, friend - dog, Quiet murmuring in his ear, Then stepping into the calm of the early day, Hearing heady cacophony of magpies, kookaburras, Signatures of my loved and worn Landscape, I lay my mat down, Friend - dog by my side, And salute the sun, Before observing my breath, And a stolen moment of peace Before day washes over me;

Then stepping out, Elated to be alive, Feeling the breeze, touching the leaves.
