What is History?  Sources of Evidence – Primary and Secondary  Archaeology – Focus on one artefact  Concept of time- Timeline and periods of time  Historical inquiry involving the location and analysis of sources and use evidence to explain artefacts from the past  Students will appreciate and understand how their ancestors have shaped and changed the world in which we live today.  Somerset history; archives, data bases and pod casts are used to inquire about the history of our own school Using their Atlas skills, the students will investigate how the geographical features influenced human settlement in Ancient Egypt. They will look at the role of the Pharaoh and his influence on society at that time Students will interpret how certain beliefs, values and practices influenced ancient Egyptian lifestyles. They will investigate how contacts and conflicts changed Ancient Egypt. How are we all globally connected?  Students will endeavour to understand the very complex concept of Globalisation  They will be introduced to ‘Multinational Corporations’ and their influence in the world today.  They will identify the pros and cons of Globalisation.  Students will be placed in a ‘Think Tank’ to discuss a problem at school, locally or internationally and then find a solution.  The students will design this product and be part of a ‘Pitching Competition’ to ‘sell’ their creation. 

Australia is connected to other nations through international agreements, the responsibilities of global citizenship, and shared commitments to security and environmental issues.
