SWOT Analysis

Lewin’s Force field analysis + 4 Employees tend to reflect the success of their organization. The productivity of this specific stakeholder group contributes to many aspects of a business. For instance: production rates, customer engagement, and overall profitability. Therefore, a strong driving force. +4 Tesla’s purpose and intrinsic motivation is a great pull factor, attracting premium quality staff. This is a critical driving force as the quality of staff mirror product outcome, customer satisfaction with product, and profitability. + 4 Consumer demands also reflect Tesla’s success. If demands are not being met, consumer satisfaction will decrease and hinder the company’s maximum profitability capacity. This can also lead to bad “word-of-mouth”, which will reduce size of consumer base in the long- term. Due to its major impact, it is a strong restraining force.

Employee perspectives are happy overall. Ultimately proven by the Tesla360 survey conducted by Forbes which presents 30% more productivity, 30% less turnover, and 37% less absenteeism. Additionally, number of employees working at Tesla has increased 111.1% in just a year (2016 & 2017).

Strength

Musk’s unique motivational strategies, although controversial, have attracted employees of the highest quality. Last year, Tesla even poached Apple’s Head of Recruitment (Charlton, 2015) Additionally, interviews show that Tesla is the chosen company amongst talented candidates regardless of Apple’s higher pay. Tesla boasts more than 150 employees who previously worked for Apple.

Strength

Consumer demands on Tesla vehicles have not been met by the Tesla automotive company. For instance, Musk expected to produce 20,000 cars in the second quarter. However, Tesla has missed its goal by producing 18,345 cars during that period (Bhuiyan, 2016). Hence if production goals aren’t being met, it could be said that Tesla’s motivational strategies are insufficient to meet demands.
