What Christmas Means To Me

Day 6 (Forgiveness)

‘WHOMP.’

The floorboards became wet beneath Kenny and Parker’s feet. There were tree branches sticking through the cracked windows of the house. They stepped outside and the heat instantly hit their skin.

“Ew, why is it so humid!” Parker groaned.

“It’s a rainforest, what do you expect” Kenny replied.

“So, this is what it looks like?” Kenny said curiously.

“Kenny look, what’s that?” said Parker as he points to a prickly ball in the corner near a large boulder. They carefully approaching the frightened animal, Kenny poked the Echidna with a stick.

In a soft voice, Kenny said, “Hi, I’m Kenny the Koala and this is Parker the Platypus, what’s your name?”

The Echidna looked up, “I- I’m Ellie,” she hesitantly replied.

Ellie extended her arm for a handshake, as Kenny put out his hand Ellie’s spikes pinched his skin and started to bleed.

“Ouch!” exclaimed Kenny.

Jumping back, Ellie began to tear up and apologized profusely.

With a warm smile “Don’t worry! It’s okay!” Kenny bent down and looked into Ellie’s eyes and firmly remarked.

Warming up to their presence, Ellie asked what they were doing in the rainforest.
