Almost, an adverb Not quite Very nearly Just not enough I never realised how cruel the English language was Until you said ‘I almost loved you’ Its funny because without the ‘almost’ things would have been different I would have had a smile that never dropped

I would have had a glimpse into the love you would show me for infinity But because of that insignificant 2 syllable word it made me feel worthless Because of that insignificant 2 syllable word, it made me ball my eyes out for days Because of that insignificant 2 syllable word my whole life came crashing down and falling down like rain Because all I ever wanted, was you A type of love our kids looked up towards A type of love where it would be a hot cup of coffee in bed A type of love where you and me are laughing over the kitchen counter because of how stupidly funny our kids were I saw all of that I saw it crystal clear But it was all ruined because of that one stupid word Almost
