The Wordsmiths Book 2021
Rally cry
Rumination – The stars, the ever-constant stars, Millions of pinpricks within the skies Above this chaotic world of ours
A distant hope therein lies As we wait counting hours We bid the past goodbye And let the future bloom as beautiful like flowers And towards the dawn with one last sigh
Seasons – Carefree days I yearn once more A childhood memory long since past Precious moments in the life before In the mind of now so overcast Wild roses dance with abandon Carnations peek from sheltered spaces A gentle breeze with a warm scent laden Ancient arches this place grace
The tender touches of morning light The quiet trickle of a bubbling brook
A study of innocent delight The place where age has took
The season of spring has long since faded Now I ward myself against winter’s chill Yet I hearken back despite a heart so jaded To the place where time stood still Grief – The air is still with ashen snow Foreboding clouds over the pale moon grow I kneel unmoved, my last rites gave My mind unmade, before an empty grave
Wild roses danced in abandon A youthful joy alighted your face
A gentle breeze with a warm scent laden My lonely soul your presence graced
