The Wordsmiths Book 2021

Life without a love

A lifeless colour wheel, spinning like the round a bout me and my owner used to go on, A heart full of love and a head full of pure memories now left to waste away. A body laying still on the hospital bed, pale and fragile. Was this the way it would end? A small whine of a losing a true friend, pursing their lips. A tear in their eyes, slowly falling onto their paw. Their owner was gone. A small paw to hold, warm fur to touch just out of reach. A furry companion to slave away in the sun, now merely a metre away but too far to see. A face not licked by their companion’s love, now crusty and decaying. A dog park without the dog, instead with the spirit and the painful memories. A tear frozen in their eyes, almost falling into their palm. Their furry companion was gone.
