1. Heroes

The focus for this unit will be on the representation of heroes in society. Students will consider the definition of a hero and the various the types of individuals who are attributed heroic status. The assessment item for this task requires students to write a biographical feature article about their chosen hero. This unit encourages students to begin thinking about career opportunities beyond school. There are two assessment pieces for this unit. The first task requires students to complete a job application, including a resume and a covering letter. The second task requires students to take part in a mock job interview. In this unit, students will focus on the importance of teams and the way they function in the realms of professional sport, business and other areas. The assessment task for this unit requires students to deliver a presentation to their peers.
