Football SOMERSET SPORT –

FOOTBALL PROGRAMME Somerset Spartans Football Club has this year been accepted into the Football Gold Coast Miniroos Competition.

The Football Gold Coast Miniroos Competition uses small sided games of teams playing 4 verse 4, 7 verse 7 and 9 verse 9 sides, rather than the traditional 11 verse 11 format to cater to four to eleven year olds. The smaller fields, modified rules and fewer players leads to a more enjoyable game with more opportunities to be involved in the action. This is a big step up for the Somerset Football programmes. Besides the Football Club, the Football programme also introduced lunchtime activities as futsal training, 4 versus 4 tournaments and street football. Maarten de Kruijf Football Co-ordinator
