Pre-Prep Art Flip Book Semester 1 2022 FINAL

Pre-prep Art Semester 1 2022

Library Bags

Each child painted their own library bag using different techniques and working on their fine skills when squirting, dabbing, sticking letters, etc. As the colours they chose mixed together, we looked at the new colours that were created, remembering the story “Mixed up” read by Mrs Zernike in which primary colours combined to make many new colours.

Self-Portraits

Using a photo of ourselves, we looked at our facial features and traced over our photo to create a self-portrait. We used fun colours to make our artwork more interesting.

Easter Mural

We had so much fun with this process art creation! We discussed what we should paint and how we should paint it. Creating our own colours by mixing paint was also super fun!

Mother s’ Day Pinch Pots We used air dry clay to create pinch pots for mums. Once dry, we used watercolour paint to add colour. We then painted a gold rim for the final touch. We loved thinking about which colours mum would like best as we were painting our creations!

Initial Model Magic Magnet

We used Model Magic to create a fridge magnet with our initial on it. Everyone was amazed by the texture of the dough and had fun learning the blending technique to create a marbling effect. It was great practice for our fine motor skills!

Spinning Tops

We decorated our spinning tops with colourful paint sticks and were amazed as we watched it spin!

Reconciliation Week Mural

To celebrate Reconciliation Week, we drew aboriginal symbols with oil pastels on a drop sheet. We then worked together to paint the whole mural with liquid watercolour paint. Once dry, we used chalk pastels to draw more symbols and added splashes of poster paint to finish our artwork. We had lots of fun seeing how colours mixed on the fabric and practised communication skills as we had to share paint and pastels.
