W elcome Welcome to the 2018 Primary Years Programme Exhibition. The PYP Exhibition is an integral part of the journey through the Primary Years Programme. It is a culminating event designed to demonstrate their understanding of the essential elements of the PYP; Knowledge, Concepts, Learner Profiles, PYPAttitudes, Approaches to Learning and Action. The Exhibition can take place under any transdisciplinary theme. This year, Year 5 are working under the theme of Who We Are. This was chosen as it is an inquiry into the nature of the self. We are exposed to so many different elements of life through mediums such as the printed word and Internet in our modern society. Given this, we found it appropriate for them to explore such issues that are of such a topical nature. Students are required to complete a collaborative inquiry under a central idea which is sufficiently broad for individual students to explore their chosen area of interest. The central idea for the 2018 PYP Exhibition is Children worldwide encounter a range of challenges and opportunities. After weeks of provocations designed to stimulate their awareness of the transdisciplinary theme and central idea, students selected an issue facing children in the world today, through three lines of inquiry: 1. Challenges and opportunities locally and globally 2. Rights and responsibilities of children worldwide 3. Access to equal opportunities Throughout the inquiry process, students completed various assessment pieces and tonight is the culmination of their efforts. We trust that you will share in celebrating with us, their remarkable journey. Congratulations, Year 5 2018, we are so very proud of you! Year 5 Teachers Mrs Jackie Proctor, Mrs Natalie Nugent, Mr Andrew Halloran, Mrs Brigitte Weintrop
