My Santiago

gyrate with young female tourists.

I meet and greet Abel Garcia Leon, the Barberia

at “La Camargue”;

Who is also an artista

painting originals,

And promise to book in for a haircut -

An artistic one!

And I awake early,

In the cool morning breeze,

And walk to the square,

Where I sit with Trinidad Cubans

And check in with my son

at the other side of the world.

We travel to the National Park,

Where I swim in the icy,

crystal clear water of the Javira river;

And discover hummingbirds and colourful caterpillars,

Safe in their oasis.

Vignettes of a city,

Steeped in a history

of sugar cane, pirates and slavery;

And “Santeria”;

African inherited spiritualism mixed with Roman Catholic.

Trinidad -

Reflecting a piquant mix of

Spanish - African;
