Junior School Magazine - Edition 6 (NOV 2018)

Y ear 3 – S kateboard D esigning In Art this term, Year 3 students designed their very own skateboards using a wooden skateboard, paints and stencils. In the first step, we drew picture of how our skateboard will look. Some students did food like hot dogs and hamburgers but we also come up with other examples for your skateboard like the joker, unicorns, golden tickets and many more amazing designs. We needed to create a three step process so that we didn’t over layer paints and create a mess! After we coloured our background (which was a light colour) we went on with our designs and the stencils. I did my ice cream stencil with a cherry on top (see the photos). After that, we traced over the stencils in pencil and then we retraced it in a black marker. Finally we painted inside the lines. It was a very slow process because we wanted to make sure the edges of our designs were perfect. As you can see in the photo, it was a great experience for us and we had lots of fun.
