hopeless fountain kingdom – Halsey

Okay so, like, what is this? Like, genuinely?? If we can just start by acknowledging and then putting aside the overused Romeo and Juliet trope that serves as the entire foundation of the album’s concept, we get...everything Halsey has already done, but with a beat this time?? The album is pretty forgettable except for a few tracks here and there, and it’s disappointing because I honestly expected so much more from Halsey. She has proven her ability to deliver some really great and individual songs like Control and Hurricane from her past album, but I just feel like this falls short. I think that the main downfall of this album is how inauthentic it sounds. It seems as though Halsey is trying to become this caricature of herself, and it feels really

forced. I really hope she begins to re-embrace the honesty we saw in the storytelling of her last album, because I can see her fanbase becoming really exhausted in this portrayal of Uber- Bad-Gal-Halsey. Top Track: Walls Could Talk
