Global Awareness Day Programme 2018
G lobal A wareness D ay 2018 Somerset College
Wednesday 6 June 2018 The Great Hall Somerset College
W elcome Global Awareness Day has evolved from Italian Day in the early years of Somerset College to International Day, as we commenced our Primary Years Programme journey, to the current title. All the performances you will see today are based on units of inquiry that have been studied by the students. Inquiry based learning has allowed the students to explore issues of global significance, from understanding our own identity as Australians in the Pre-Prep classes to the way in which the world has been settled, from celebrations around the world, to the variety of ways we express ourselves. During these units of inquiry the students have also focused on the attributes of the IB Learner Profile: caring, open minded, balanced, communicator, knowledgeable, thinker, reflective, risk taker, principled and inquirer. As global citizens, we strive to live the Learner Profile. The performances are a snapshot only of the inquiries that have been happening both in and out of the classroom. Please take this opportunity to ask your children about their learning and don’t forget that worthwhile inquiries always result in more questions!
