Government by AI

hlt002

However, Soviet- Chinese communism’s failed precedent and the dystopian novel The Giver

both show the invalidates the decision: citizens dislike the feudalist rigidity in their career and

would desire freedom and randomity in this choice, despite the possibility of misstep.

Conclusion

AI’s distinctive ability to be rational (and high knowledgeability) can make decision that

brings the eternal, absolute rational good to a society. Therefore, in discussing the possibility

of AI governance, we are evaluating whether the rational good is possible and desirable for

citizens (the possibility and axiology of rationality and rational good).

Though from opposite stance, Plato and Nietzsche argue from a similar logic and is insufficient

in the same aspect. They both attempted to propose an idea that is the ultimate desirable goal

for human beings, behind all secular pursuits. They both associated this idea with anything

plausible----truth, satisfaction, and eternity.

However, they are both being criticized of either impracticality or idealism, detached from the

moral reality. The main reason I think is that both attempts to execute their value to an extreme,

the complete dominance of this value (Plato), or dominance with artistic packaging (Nietzsche).

The case study has shown that such extremity is undesirable.

The best answer may lay somewhere between them. Plato and Nietzsche both, discovers

pleasure in their unpopular value, and the pursuit for certainty and truth drives this new

discovery to an extreme, for convincing themselves and others of the supreme value of this

concept. They both present to the subsequent thinkers, Nietzsche towards Plato and Santayana

towards Nietzsche, as much detached from our moral reality, because the complicated human

axiology could not be answered with one simple value above all else.
