Locke’s sentiments on the importance of consent from society are emulated,

contrasting the natural power claim of Filmer as one cannot consent in such a way.

This deems Filmer’s patriarchal absolutist government as being illegitimate following

Locke’s conditions. The conclusion is made that parliament must not infringe beyond

the restoration of the constitutional status quo, 12 maintaining power as being a quality

of the people. In conclusion, as this occurs there are grounds for rebellion by the

people.

Empirical Evaluation – Boogaloo Boyz Case Study

The Boogaloo Movement, administered by the self- proclaimed ‘Boogaloo Boys,’ is a

loosely organised, anti-government political movement in the United States. 13 Often

referred to as a militia, the Boogaloo aims to incite a Second American civil war, or

what some members refer to as a race war. Though individual ideologies within the

movement vary, the anti-government sentiment appears to be constant. Notably, the

movement planned the kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as an
