RULES
Competitors may compete in their own respective age group only. For Open Events (Back, Breast, Fly) only, students compete in multi-age events.
START Each event shall have the following command for the start.
Whistle: Whistle: Take your mark: Beeper:
Take your mark ... Beeper. On the whistle, competitors will take the top block. Competitors will take their race start position. Go!
False Start – One Start Rule The race will be started by the Beeper. Should a swimmer ‘break’, the race will continue and that swimmer will be disqualified by the judges. If you think there is a break DO NOT STOP – keep swimming. *False start rule will be applied leniently to 9 Years.
TURNS
All competitors must touch the turning wall with either hand or foot.
Freestyle
Competitors must touch with both hands together at the finish of the event and on the turns. The correct Breaststroke kick must be used. A competitor is allowed only one stroke underwater at the start of the event and on the turn.

Competitors must touch with both hands together at the finishof the event and on the turn.
Butterfly
Competitors must be on their backs at all times except when executing a turn. Backstroke will start in the water.

100M Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly are open events and are available for students from Year 7-12 to enter. All 100M events count towards the Open Swimming Championship. 50m events count towards Age Championship only. All events count for House Points
