In each event, the top 2 placegetters may qualify for the Somerset APS Athletics Team. Please note that we ask all parents to remember and respect the fact that Somerset College Athletics coaches select the APS team based on many factors, choosing a team based on what is fair and in the best interest of all students. Selections are based performance on the day, history of performance, recent form in class and practices. Absent students with legitimate excuses will not be disadvantaged in selection. Educational research shows that it is best for children’s sporting, emotional, and personal development if parents/caregivers accept and support coaches in these selections. Children respond better to any selection disappointment when parent/caregivers encourage them to enjoy their chosen sport, relish being part of a team environment and do their best.
