40th Inter-House Swimming Carnival 2022

RULES Competitors may compete in their own age group only. For Open Events (Year 7 to 12) only, students compete in multi-age events.

START

Each event shall have the following command for the start. Whistle: Take your mark ... Beeper. Whistle:

On the whistle, competitors will take the top block. Competitors will take their race start position.

False Start – One Start Rule The race will be started by the Beeper. Should a swimmer ‘break’, the race will continue and that swimmer will be disqualified by the judges. If you think there is a break DO NOT STOP – keep swimming.

TURNS

All competitors must touch the turning wall with either hand or foot.

Freestyle

Competitors must touch with both hands together at the finish of the event and on the turns. The correct Breaststroke kick must be used. A competitor is allowed only one stroke underwater at the start of the event and on the turn. Competitors must touch with both hands together at the finishof the event and on the turn. Competitors must be on their backs at all times except when executing a turn. Backstroke will start in the water

*Open events are available for students of all ages to enter and individual events count for the Open Swimming Champion ship; n.b. 100m Freestyle results are combined to rank fastest swimmers and all events count for House Points.

*Year 3 students will not be contesting Age Champion in 2022. They will receive House points for every event they participate in.
