Somerset College MESSAGE FROM THE HEADMASTER This year’s Senior Musical is set to take you on a journey through time, nostalgia and the unforgettable beats of the 90s. Welcome to a show where the beats are infectious, the melodies are iconic, and the energy is electric. As I have sat in the theatre watching rehearsals, I have found myself reminiscing on previous shows that have kept their audiences enthralled, all filled with their special moments. This show will be no different, as the cast and crew worked together to bring to life the spirit of the decade – its energy, its quirks, and it unapologetic sense of fun. Together we step back into the vibrant era of flannel shirts, scrunchies and cassette tapes to witness our young performers bring to the stage the infectious pop anthems and the soulful ballads. You will hear the cast belting out powerhouse vocals, see them perfecting those signature dance moves and watch them bring to life some of the larger-than-life personalities of our favourite 90s idols. From the boy bands to the girl power anthems, from the grunge rockers to the R&B sensations, their voices and performances will transport you back in time. Thanks must go to the cast and crew for their dedication, enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to bringing this vibrant era to life. Together they have created an experience that will transport you to a time known for its irreverence, its creativity and its unapologetic embracement of individuality, and will leave you dancing in the aisles long after the final curtain closes.

SYNOPSIS

Somerset College In a vibrant 1990s high school, Mark, a charismatic and talented student, is heartbroken when his ambitious girlfriend, Shannon, dumps him to pursue stardom. Shannon hears that the famous pop-band impresario Simon Austin will be a surprise judge at the State Talent Show and sees it as her golden ticket. Mark's social status plummets overnight, but his loyal garage band friends, a quirky group of misfits, rally around him. They hatch a bold plan to transform their grunge band into a polished boy band to compete against Shannon's glamorous group, "Candy Girls." The boys face a significant challenge: none of them know how to dance. Their journey seems doomed until Ella, a talented new girl with a mysterious past, arrives and agrees to help. Ella teaches them choreography and refines their performance skills, and as they work together, sparks fly between Mark and Ella, adding a romantic twist to their mission.

As the Talent Show approaches, tension mounts. Mark is determined to win the Grand Prize, reclaim his dignity, and settle the score with Shannon. Meanwhile, Shannon intensifies her efforts to secure victory, raising the stakes. With dazzling dance routines, catchy pop tunes, and heartfelt moments, the countdown to the Grand Finale is filled with unexpected twists and turns. "Pop Stars The 90's Musical" is a nostalgic, high-energy journey through the vibrant 90s, celebrating music, friendship, and young love. The finale promises a spectacular display of talent, drama, and triumph – a night that will go down in high school history. Will Mark and his friends pull off their transformation, outshine the "Candy Girls," and see Mark and

Ella's budding romance survive the competition? The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown.
