Figure 9. South African HIV/AIDS Prevention Awareness
VIVA CONDOMS
“Condoms prevent HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and pregnancy. Condoms are available free from clinics and at low price in shows and pharmacies. Protect yourself and those you love. Use a condom every time you have sex.” (Hodes, 2022) South Africa has multiple HIV prevention programs that tackle biomedical-focused activities such as safe medical injections and medical adult male circumcision. (cdc, 2019). Additionally, concerning blood transfusions, the South African National Blood Services provides citizens with adequate and disease-free blood. Since 2008, there has been no reported cases of transfusion-transmitted HIV infections in South Africa (cdc, 2019). South Africa encourages the use of condoms to limit the risk of contracting HIV. As shown in figure 9, posters like this are distributed in clinics and hospitals to raise awareness and encourage responsible sexual activities in the hopes of an improvement of the HIV climate in South Africa.
