As shown in figure 4, Africa has the highest rates of sexual assault in the world, which includes South Africa and Botswana of approximately >60/100,000 of the population. In comparison, Australia has a lower sexual assault rate of approximately 11-30/100,000 of the population. These statistics coincide with the HIV/AIDS death rates of these respective regions as shown in figure 3. This implies that sexual assault reports have an impact on HIV prevalence. Sexual assault victims may receive tears and lacerations, increasing the HIV risk. Therefore, this demonstrates another correlation between HIV prevalence and socioeconomic factors such as sexual assault rates. South Africa and Botswana have higher sexual assault rates than Australia, while South Africa and Botswana have a relatively higher HIV prevalence rate than
